jallianwala bagh

The production was a homage to the brave souls who lost their lives in the brutal Jallianwala Bagh massacre that took place on April 13, 1919 on the occasion of its centenary.  Following the massacre, the play incorporated the role played by Shaheed Udham Singh in retaliation to the Empire.

directors' note

"This production was a huge responsibility and a monumental honour. We wanted to ensure that we honoured the lives of the people who lost their lives to the massacre and to the person who sought revenge for the wounded nation. An epoch in India's independence struggle, this incident has left an indelible mark across generations.  We feel fortunate to have had the chance to create a theatrical production in its memory. It instilled in our students a sense of patriotism and belief in the idea of India that we are certain will lay a foundation for them to become responsible citizens of this wonderful nation."
